Goods Train Derails at Vishnupuram in Nalgonda

It’s gone: Two bogies of an empty goods train derailed at Vishnupuram on the Guntur-Secunderabad route in Nalgonda district on Sunday, disrupting train traffic on the line.

Sabari Express was halted at Miryalaguda and the Janmabhoomi Express and Repalle passenger at Nalgonda for more than two hours as the track was being cleared. Falaknama Express and Vishaka Express were diverted through Warangal.

Railway officials rushed to the spot to clear the bogies, which derailed at about 2 pm, to clear the route for other trains.

Passengers faced much inconvenience with the train stopped under the hot sun for a long time. Chedurupalli Gangadhar, travelling on the Repalle passenger train, said no arrangements were made for the passengers. There are not many facilities at the Nalgonda station as most trains stop there for a minute.

Another passenger, B. Ramu, said that Repalle passenger train had stated late from Secunderabad.

Syrups Seized Claiming False Cure

Hyderabad: The TS Drugs Control Administration seized ‘StoneLock’ syrup, an Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Lewib Healthcare in Jagtial, for claiming to treat kidney stones, during a raid at a medical store. Officials in Adilabad seized stocks of ‘Rheuam Liniment’, Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Maheshwari Pharmaceuticals, for claiming that it treated rheumatism.

5,678 Illegal Railway Vendors Booked

Hyderabad: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) Secunderabad unit said it had booked 5,678 cases against unauthorised vendors so far this year. They were found selling eatables without a valid licence. This was a 239 per cent increase compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, said Debashmita C. Banerjee, senior divisional security commissioner, RPF. This was part of the RPF effort to ensure that passengers get hygienic eatables.

Hyderabad Resident Feared Missing

Manali: A Hyderabad resident was feared drowned when he went to the rescue of a woman who had fallen into the Beas river at Nehru Kund, 4 km from Manali in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district. Police said the woman, Ruchi Tiwari,23, a tourist from Reva in Madhya Pradesh, climbed on a rock to take a selfie but slipped into the water.

Saurabh Shah, 32, from Hyderabad, who was accompanying the woman, jumped into the river to save her but went missing. He was feared drowned, police said. A police team from Manali reached the spot and began a search and rescue operation, Manali DSP K.D. Sharma said.

Alwal Man Dies by Suicide After Losing Cricket Bet

Hyderabad: Mohammed Abdul Waheed, a 25-year-old land surveyor, died by suicide at his house in Rajivnagar, Kanajiguda, reportedly after losing money to cricket betting, Alwal police said on Sunday.

On Friday night, Waheed had dinner with his parents and went to sleep. His father Rasheed grew suspicious after there was a long silence, and broke open Waheed’s room door to find the body.

Police said Waheed had borrowed heavily from acquaintances and private financing companies. Waheed left a suicide note in which he listed his lenders and asked his parents to pay them.

Police registered a case of death under suspicious circumstances and shifted the victim’s body to Gandhi Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
