Pune police book Delhi vlogger for creating ‘abusive, misleading’ video on Porsche crash case

Pune city police have booked two persons in connection with a reel posted on Instagram with objectionable content related to the Porsche car accident. An FIR in this case was lodged at the Cyber police station of the Pune city police on Saturday.

The alleged objectionable reel on Instagram had gone viral on social media. The reel shows a youngster performing a rap song with objectionable comments and foul language, as if there was nothing to remorse about the Porsche car accident.

Several persons on social media and TV channels circulated the video saying the youngster in the reel is the same minor boy who was driving the Porsche car that knocked down and killed two software engineers at Kalyani Nagar junction in Pune city around 2.30 am on May 19.

After an FIR was lodged against the minor at Yerwada police station, the same day, the juvenile justice board granted him bail on conditions like he should “write an essay of 300 words” on road accidents.

While this led to a massive public outrage, around the same period, the objectionable instagram reel surfaced on social media. Amitesh Kumar, commissioner of Pune city police said that prima-facie it was learnt that the boy in the reel is not the one who is accused in the Porsche car accident case. But the police commissioner launched a probe into the reel as it was spreading discontent among the public . Mother of the minor boy in the Porsche car case also clarified that the youth seen in the reel was not her son.

Festive offer

A police press release issued by the police on Saturday stated that sub inspector Snehal Adsul spotted the objectionable reel on Instagram on May 23. An FIR was then lodged against two persons, including the one who created the reel and the other who circulated through an Instagram account. Police have booked the accused under section 508, 294 (b) of Indian Penal Code and sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act.

Senior police inspector Suresh Shinde is investigating the case further. Police said that URLs of the reel and the Instagram account have been forwarded to the Instagram company for seeking information about the accused persons. Attempts are on to identify the key accused through a technical probe, the press release stated.
