New Delhi: The central government has extended the tenure of Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pandey by a month. This is a rare decision after nearly 50 years. General Pandey is scheduled to retire on 31st of this month.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved on May 26 to extend his tenure till June 30, the Defense Department said. Pandey will take charge as the Army Chief in April 2022.
