New Skoda Slavia Facelift Testing Begins – What to Expect?

Launched in the first quarter of 2022, the Skoda Slavia mid-size sedan has completed two successful years in the Indian market. After the Kushaq, it was the brand’s second offering based on Volkswagen Group’s localized MQB-A0-IN platform. The Slavia was introduced as a challenger to the Volkswagen Virtus, Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Now, the company is planning to give the Slavia its first mid-life update, confirmed by the recent sighting of its test mule. Read: Skoda To Launch Brezza, Venue, Nexon Rival SUV in India

Most of the design details of the new Skoda Slavia facelift were covered by heavy camouflage, except for the C-shaped taillamps and revised rear bumper. The sedan is likely to receive a few cosmetic updates at the front end, such as a slightly tweaked grille, bumper, and headlamps. The side profile might remain largely unchanged. No changes will be made to its dimensions. The updated Slavia will continue to be one of the largest vehicles in its segment. Its pre-facelift version measures 4541mm in length, 1752mm in width, and 1507mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2651mm. Its ground clearance stands at 179mm.

Aiming to give it an edge over its rivals, Skoda might equip the Slavia facelift with Level 2 ADAS tech along with a 360-degree camera, rear disc brakes, and a panoramic sunroof. The sedan will continue to feature a dual-tone interior theme with features such as a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, connected car tech, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, rear AC vents, leatherette upholstery, wireless charger, six airbags, ESC, tire pressure monitor, and an electronic differential system.

Under the hood, the new Skoda Slavia facelift will feature the existing 1.0L, 3-cylinder TSI, and 1.5L, 4-cylinder TSI petrol engines. While the former delivers a claimed power of 115bhp and 175Nm of torque, the latter is good for 150bhp and 250Nm. Both manual (6-speed) and automatic (6-speed torque converter and 7-speed DCT) gearboxes will be on offer.
