HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday announced that the government has approved the song Jaya Jaya Hey Telangana as the state anthem of Telangana on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day to be held on June 2. However, the government is yet to take a decision on Telangana official emblem and Telangana Thalli statue.

The government will also dedicate the Jaya Jaya Hey Telangana anthem to the nation during the June 2 celebrations at Parade Grounds and Tank Bund.

The song will have two versions — a shorter one with 2.30-minute duration and a full version with a length of 13.30 minutes.

The Chief Minister said this song, which has shown the fame of Telangana during the movement, has been accepted as the state anthem with the approval of all, so that it will be sung by future generations.

Revanth Reddy said the shorter version with three stanzas will be sung at all government functions. However, he said that both of the versions will be considered the state anthem.

Telangana poet and writer Ande Sri declared that this song written less than 20 years ago has been accepted. Oscar Award winner Keeravani has composed the music as well as the vocals.

After a meeting with ministers, other public representatives and party leaders, the Chief Minister said his government has taken many initiatives for the reconstruction of Telangana. As part of it, he said the abbreviation for the state has been changed from TS to TG.

The state anthem, he said, was approved based on the decision taken in the Cabinet and a decision was also made to change the official emblem of the state government and the statue of Telangana Thalli.

The Chief Minister, however, said no decision has been taken on the state emblem and Telangana Thalli.

“They have already received around 500 samples from artists from different parts of the state. All the designs are under discussion and no final shape for the emblem has been finalised yet. The final decision has not been taken regarding the statue of Telangana Talli also and the artists said that various designs are being made. A decision will be taken in the Assembly without giving rise to misconceptions and false propaganda regarding the new symbol and idols of the mother of Telangana,” Chief Minister said.

The review meeting was attended by Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad, ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Damodara Rajanarsimha, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Jupalli Krishna Rao, D. Seethakka, Konda Surekha along with former minister Jana Reddy were present at the Secretariat.

Telangana Jana Samithi president Prof. Kodandaram, lyricist Ande Sri, music director MM Keeravani, CPI MLA Koonamaneni Sambasivarao, CPM state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadra along with MPs, MLAs, and former MPs were also present.
