Bengaluru: Rape and sexual harassment of women accused Member of Parliament (MP) Prajwal Revanna arrived in Bengaluru on Friday early hours catching an airplane from Munich International Airport of Germany after he had fled the country on April 27 this year.
He landed at Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL) in Devanahalli near Bengaluru city where sleuths of Special Investigation Team under Criminal Investigation Department (CID) investigating the allegations against the MP, were waiting to arrest him.
A couple of days back, Prajwal, belonging to Janata Dal Secular (JDS), had circulated a recorded video on a mobile phone containing a message that he will appear before the Investigating Officer (IO) of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating rape, series of sexual exploitation of women among other charges against him.
Prajwal went ‘hiding’ on April 27 after some of the videos of his alleged involvement in rape, series of sexual exploitation, among others charges were circulated in public domain. Taking note of the allegations against Prajwal Revanna, representing Hassan parliamentary seat, the State Government formed a Special Investigation Team under Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the allegations. An arrest warrant was also issued against Prajwal by the SIT.
Though a notice was served to Prajwal on May 1 to appear before the SIT, he evaded appearance citing that he was away and needed a week’s time to appear before the Investigating Officer (IO). The State Government made an appeal to the Ministry of External Affairs to cancel his diplomatic passport which the accused had used to flee the country. A Lookout Notice and also Blue Corner notice were served against Prajwal.
Sources told Deccan Chronicle that after he landed at KIAL, he was taken by immigration officials over his Lookout and Blue Corner notice against Prajwal and later he will be handed over to the sleuths of SIT who were at the KIAL waiting for the accused to arrive.
Sources added that Prajwal would be taken to Bowing Hospital in Bengaluru city for medical examination. Meanwhile, his anticipatory bail will be coming up for hearing on Friday.
