2 Die of Dehydration After Taking Liquor

Vijayawada: Two men died of suspected dehydration after consuming liquor at Penuganchiprolu mandal in NTR district on Saturday.

The average day-time temperature in the area is around 40 degrees Celsius.

The deceased were identified as Gandham Satyanarayana (57) and Budhapu Narasimha Rao (47), both natives of Anakapalli.

According to Penuganchiprolu SI P. Rambabu, the deceased had boarded their friend Kangala Appa Rao’s lorry, which was transporting coal from Anakapalli to a private cement factory in Jaggayyapet on Thursday evening.

The SI said the two deceased relentlessly consumed alcohol during their journey from Anakapalli to Jaggayyapet in the lorry and were unconscious by the time they reached Nawabpet on Friday evening.

“Upon seeing both his friends unconscious inside the lorry, Appa Rao stopped the vehicle by the roadside on the national highway at Nawabpet and dialed 108 ambulance. After checking them, the 108 staff declared them dead,” the SI said.

He added that the police are suspecting dehydration as the primary cause of their death.

A case under section 174 of the CrPC was registered. The bodies were shifted to Jaggayyapet Government Hospital.
