Delhi News Live Updates: A Delhi court is expected to hear an application filed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday, seeking interim bail for a week on medical grounds in a money laundering case connected to the alleged Delhi excise scam. The Supreme Court had granted him a 21-day interim bail on May 10, which concludes todayto allow him to campaign during the Lok Sabha polls.
Meanwhile, yesterday, Kejriwal said he was “proud” of going to jail to “save the country from dictatorship” even as he asked the people of the national capital to “take care of my parents” just as he, as the “son” of each household in the city, sought to take care of them. He is supposed to surrender in Tihar Jail on June 2.

L-G VK Saxena on Friday accused the AAP Delhi government of seeking to blame other states for its own failures as he alleged that the regime was being irresponsible with regard to the water crisis gripping the capital, highlighting the “heart-wrenching” visuals of women and children chasing tankers amid the soaring mercury.
Questioning the success of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s poll promise of ensuring round-the-clock water supply in the city, and terming it an “illusion”, Saxena, in a statement, alleged that over half of the water being produced in Delhi was unaccounted for. In response, the AAP accused Saxena of “playing cheap and dirty politics” and being an “outsider” with no interest either in the people of the city or their welfare.
“I am told that Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are continuously supplying the required quota of water that is due to Delhi. Despite this, the reason for the severe water shortage in Delhi is that 54% of the water produced is unaccounted for. 40% of the water gets spoiled during supply through old and shabby pipelines,” he stated.

Delhi has recorded its hottest May in terms of average maximum temperature since 2013, going by data from the IMD.
The average maximum temperature in May at the Safdarjung weather station, the city’s base observatory, was 41.4 degrees Celsius. The last time a marginally higher average was recorded in May was in 2013 — 41.5 degrees Celsius.
The highest maximum temperature recorded at Safdarjung this May was 46.8 degrees Celsius, the highest at the station in May in 80 years.
