Among the many films that hit the theaters this week, some were also from Hindi. The sports drama “Mr & Miss Mahi” starring talented actor Rajkumar Rao and young heroine Janhvi Kapoor as heroines is one of them. Let’s see how this movie is in the review.
Story:
Coming to the story… Mahendra Agarwal (Raj Kumar Rao) was interested in cricket from his childhood and dreamed of playing in the Indian cricket team when he grew up. But due to some circumstances he has to stay away from cricket and look after his father’s sports shop. After a few years, Mahima (Janhvi Kapoor) comes into his life as his marriage relation. Though she is a doctor by profession, he realizes that she is also a cricketer like him. And what will he do for her from there? Will he become a cricketer again or will he make his wife a cricketer? What is the reaction of their families in this order? You have to watch this movie to know what actually happens in the end.
Plus Points:
Rajkumar is one of the few underrated talented actors in Bollywood cinema. He has given solid performance as an actor till now in his films. In the same way, he has done many shades in this movie as well. As a sportsman, Rajkumar Rao portrays all the expressions of love, jealousy and anger very well.
It must be said that Janhvi Kapoor also got a good role in this movie. She is also a sports person and physically, it seems in some scenes that she has worked very hard for this film. Also the way she plays cricket but in some emotional scenes her performance is good. Along with them, popular actor Kumud Mishra, who played the role of Rajkumar Rao’s father, gave a good performance as a strict father. Along with them, the other cast acted well.
Minus Points:
Before the release of this movie, the makers made a lot of noise saying that it was an emotional sports drama and it was a good promotion, but there is nothing in the movie. As the main point of the movie is revealed in the trailer, if the movie watchers understand the whole movie after seeing it, it seems like it is going on in a very boring way.
Even though the movie is less than two and a half hours, it continues to be dull. Apart from that, while watching this movie, it feels like watching many scenes, emotions, Mana Jersey and other sports dramas. Also, at some places, the tracks between Janhvi and Rajkumar seem more boring.
And emotions don’t get much of a workout either. And music has to play a very important role in this kind of movies. 8 people have given music for this movie. But even all their work could not elevate the film. But with these, the movie seems to be very dull.
Technical category:
This movie is produced by Zee Studios and Karan Johar. All their spending looks good. It is a VFX work week in both places. As mentioned above, the music is so-so. Cinematography is good. Editing should be better. Dialogues are very average. And when it comes to the director Sharan Sharma.. I have to say that he has given below average work to this movie. It would have been better if the screenplay was more engaging with good emotions.
Verdict:
Overall, the actors in this movie “Mr. & Miss Mahi” have done well, but the movie has taken a hit. The director should have directed the story in a better way. The film disappoints with its very week story, not so pleasing cricket episodes and boring scenes.
