Before the start of elections it was assumed that after the inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Lok Sabha elections 2024 would be a cakewalk for BJP. In UP at least, BJP would win with a never before majority in the 80 LS seats.

Despite the recent inauguration of the Ram Mandir, the BJP lost in Ayodhya, sending a clear message that there is no place for hatred in the name of Lord Ram.
This verdict indicates a shift in voter sentiment, showing that Uttar Pradesh is no longer a stronghold for the BJP or Prime Minister Modi.
In this election, the Samajwadi Party and Congress together won 44 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, including Ayodhya. Uttar Pradesh saw the BJP’s dominance fade away from over 60 seats in 2019 to potentially struggling to secure 35 seats this time around.
