MG To Launch Tata Tiago EV Rival In India

MG Motor India is planning to foray into the mass-market, small EV segment that’s currently dominated by the Tata Tiago EV. Recently, a patent image of the MG Bingo electric hatchback has emerged on the web. It’s likely to make its way to the Indian market in 2025. For people not in the know, the Bingo EV is currently on sale in Indonesia and China under the Wuling brand. Let’s take a look at key features and specifications of the upcoming MG Bingo EV.

The new MG electric hatchback will share its platform with the Comet and the upcoming MG Cloud EV. Both these models are based on the GSEV (Global Small Electric Vehicle) born electric platform. Compared to its arch rival – Tata Tiago EV, the Bingo will be slightly longer and wider. Its overall length, width and height stand at 3950mm, 1708mm and 1580mm, respectively. It has a 2560mm long wheelbase and offers a boot space of 790-litres.

When it comes to powertrain, the Bingo EV (global-spec) is offered with two battery pack options – 17.3kWh with 41bhp electric motor and 31.9kWh with 68bhp electric motor. While the former delivers a claimed range of 203km (on the CLTC cycle), the latter offers a range of 333km.

The Tata Tiago EV comes with the 19.2kWh battery and 61bhp motor, promising an MIDC claimed range of 250km. The Tiago EV long-range version uses a 24kWh battery pack and a 75bhp electric motor, and delivers a range of 315km on a single charge.
