The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reportedly marked Feb 19 to March 9 as the 20-day window for the return of Champions Trophy next year, according to a report on Cricbuzz.
The tournament, which features the eight top teams in ICC’s rankings for one-day internationals, was last played in 2017 when Pakistan lifted the trophy beating India in the final.
The report further states that the ICC member boards have been intimated about the proposed dates.
Pakistan is officially the host of the tournament, but the Indian government’s reluctance to allow its team to travel to Pakistan for the Champions trophy may turn the event into a hybrid model, similar to the last Asia Cup when India played all their matches in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan, however, have reportedly marked Lahore as the venue for all India matches to cut down on the Indian team’s travel and to make it easier for the fans to visit Pakistan from the Wagah border near Amritsar.
A clarity on the Indian government and BCCI‘s stance is expected in July when the ICC annual conference will be held in Colombo.
