In April 2022, Tata Motors showcased a swanky EV concept, called the Avinya. It has now been reported that the Avinya won’t be a single model, but will spawn multiple EVs, including electric SUVs and MPVs. Vivek Srivastava, Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said, “Avinya is not going to be a single model; it’s a brand, and we will spawn multiple products under that brand.” Srivastava added that the Avinya range would include multiple body styles, including SUVs and MPVs, positioned at the higher end of Tata’s product lineup. The Avinya range of EVs will be based on JLR’s modular EMA architecture, which will be shared with the next-generation Velar, Evoque and Discovery Sport. The cars will be manufactured at Tata’s upcoming facility in Tamil Nadu. JLR’s EMA platform will have Level 2+ autonomous capabilities, an integrated propulsion system, battery management and a charging system. It will support over-the-air updates and ultrafast charging.
