3 New Honda Cars for India – All Key Details

Honda Cars India has revived its market with the arrival of the Elevate mid-size SUV. Aiming to further boost its sales, the Japanese automaker plans to introduce four new SUVs by 2030. The plan includes an all-new subcompact SUV (codename: 3US), a new-generation Amaze compact sedan, and the Elevate EV. Let’s take a look at the key details of the upcoming Honda cars.

Upcoming Honda Cars in India

New-Gen Honda Amaze

The all-new Amaze will share its platform with the Elevate mid-size SUV, though it will be slightly revised to accommodate the shorter wheelbase. The compact sedan will come with a significantly improved design and new features while maintaining the current engine setup. The new Amaze will derive most of its design elements from the global-spec Accord. Interior details are scant at this point in time, but it is expected to come with a larger touchscreen infotainment system similar to the one in the Elevate. It will borrow several features from its mid-size SUV sibling. For power, the 2024 Honda Amaze will use the same 1.2L, 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 89bhp and 110Nm of torque. Both manual and CVT automatic gearboxes will be offered.

Codenamed DG9D, the electric SUV will compete against the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti Suzuki eVX. Honda will begin retooling its Tapukara facility in Rajasthan for the production of the Elevate EV by the end of this year. Specific details of the product are not yet available, though it’s likely to receive a few EV-specific design changes inside and out.

Honda Subcompact SUV

The Japanese automaker is reported to foray into the highly competitive subcompact SUV segment with an all-new model. It’s too early to comment on its features and specifications, but the new Honda subcompact SUV could be offered with the 1.2L petrol engine currently used in the Amaze. This same motor could be enhanced with hybrid technology. Once launched, it will compete with the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra 3XO, and other vehicles in the segment.
