The new Mahindra Thar Armada (5-door Thar) is set to make its global debut on August 15, 2024. Unofficial bookings for the lifestyle off-road SUV have already commenced at select dealerships. Fresh spy shots reveal that the 5-door Thar will have a dual-pane or panoramic sunroof, although this feature might be reserved for the top-end trims. The lower variants will get a single-pane sunroof along with a standard kit of features. Reports suggest that features such as a dashcam, a 360-degree camera, and front parking sensors could also be included. Read: Future Mahindra EVs To Use Volkswagen’s Batteries
Compared to the 3-door Thar, the forthcoming Thar Armada will offer more goodies, including leatherette seat upholstery, a dual-screen setup (one for the infotainment system and one for the instrument cluster), front and rear center armrests, rear AC vents, push-button start, and six airbags. Unlike its 3-door counterpart, which has rear drum brakes, the Thar Armada will have disc brakes.

Additionally, a few design and styling changes will be made. The Mahindra Thar Armada will feature a newly-designed grille, a revised front bumper with LED headlamps, LED side indicators integrated into the front fenders, LED fog lamps, and 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels (only for the higher variants).
The new Mahindra Thar 5-door is reported to come with three engines: a 203bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol, a 175bhp, 2.2L diesel, and a 117bhp, 1.5L diesel. It can be equipped with either a manual or an automatic gearbox. While the 1.5L diesel engine will come with an RWD setup, the 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L diesel powertrains will get a 4WD system. The SUV will be designed on a ladder frame chassis and will use a five-link suspension with frequency-dependent dampers.
Prices of the Mahindra Thar Armada are likely to start from Rs 15 lakh onwards, making it nearly Rs 3 lakh more expensive than its 3-door version.
