Tata Harrier EV, Harrier Petrol Launch In 2025

India’s third-largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, Tata Motors, aims to increase its market share to 18-20 percent from the current 14 percent by the end of the decade. To achieve this, the indigenous automaker will roll out an entirely new range of ICE (internal combustion engine) and electric vehicles (EVs). Regarding the upcoming Tata EVs, the company has confirmed that it will introduce the Curvv EV and Harrier EV in the fiscal year 2025.

The Tata Harrier EV will be the brand’s second product based on the Acti.ev platform, the first being the Punch EV. Specifications of the electric SUV are still under wraps, but it’s likely to come with an electric motor and a battery pack of 60kWh capacity, offering a range of around 500km on a full charge. It will have an AWD (all-wheel drive) setup and support both vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capacities.

The Tata Harrier petrol will also arrive this fiscal year. The model will feature Tata’s all-new 1.5L turbo petrol direct injection engine that will debut with the Curvv ICE version. The motor will deliver 170PS at 5,000rpm and 280Nm between 2,000rpm and 3,500rpm. The carmaker has confirmed that its new engine can run on petrol and an E20 ethanol petrol mix fuel. It complies with the BS6 Phase II emission norms. Tata’s new petrol engine is claimed to be lightweight and benefits from high-pressure direct injection technology and an advanced combustion system. The Harrier petrol will come with both 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.

Aiming to strengthen its EV charging network, Tata Motors will expand its public charging stations from 10,000 in FY24 to over 100,000 by FY30, and from over 4,300 to over 100,000 for community charging. The company also aims to create multiple offerings for EV and solar rooftops for its customers.
