After a match at New York’s Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, Amir was again targeted by fans, who, in a viral social media video, called him a “fixer” as he walked near the boundary line.
Amir, who received a five-year ban from the ICC for his role in the scandal at just 18 years of age, quickly reacted to the chants. He appeared visibly angry and allegedly made an obscene middle finger gesture.
Pakistan lost their opening match of the T20 World Cup to co-hosts United States, which went into a Super Over.
Amir, who bowled the Super Over, conceded 18 runs in an eight-ball over to the USA.
In response, the USA restricted Pakistan to 13/1, winning the thrilling Super Over.
In Pakistan’s second match against India, Amir delivered a magnificent four-over spell, conceding 23 runs and claiming two wickets, helping to bowl out Rohit Sharma‘s team for 119.
However, Pakistan could only muster 113 for 7 in 20 overs, losing the match by 6 runs.
Pakistan kept their Super Eight hopes alive with a seven-wicket victory against Canada in their third match, where Amir bagged impressive figures of 2 for 13 in 4 overs and was named Man of the Match.
Pakistan’s next match will be against Ireland on June 16 at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida.
