India’s practice session in flood-hit Florida cancelled ahead of T20 World Cup game against Canada: Report | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Rohit Sharma-led Indian side has been undefeated in the T20 World Cup 2024. However, their winning streak could face a massive setback this week, with clouds of uncertainty hovering over their upcoming group-stage fixture against Canada.
According to a report from News18, the scheduled practice session for the Indian men’s cricket team in Florida on June 14 has been cancelled due to inclement weather conditions.

This development comes ahead of their match against Canada, set to take place at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill on Saturday.
The weather forecast predicts continued rain and thunderstorms throughout the week, affecting the schedule of matches involving India, Pakistan, Ireland, and Canada in Florida.
Lauderhill, located an hour north of Miami, has experienced flood-like conditions, causing significant disruptions. The adverse weather poses challenges for the continuation of cricket matches in the area, particularly affecting Pakistan’s chances of advancing in the tournament.

A previous game at Lauderhill between Sri Lanka and Nepal was abandoned without play due to weather conditions, and the USA are scheduled to play Ireland later on Friday. Pakistan’s upcoming match against Ireland at the same venue on Sunday is crucial for their campaign.
Indian team has demonstrated praiseworthy performance in the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup, securing victories in all their group-stage matches.
Their campaign began with an eight-wicket win over Ireland, followed by a narrow six-run victory against Pakistan in a match characterized by low scoring.

The team continued their winning streak by defeating the USA by seven wickets at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
India have already secured a place in the next stage of the tournament and are set to face Australia at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia on June 24. The pre-tournament seedings, which determine the Super 8 stage, ensure that India and Australia will be in the same group regardless of their finishing positions in the initial rounds.
On the other hand, Pakistan’s chances of qualifying for the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup 2024 have significantly diminished due to bad weather forecasts for their upcoming matches in Florida. Additionally, Florida will host the crucial Ireland vs. USA game. If this match ends with no result, Pakistan will be eliminated. To advance, Pakistan must rely on Ireland defeating the USA on Friday and then secure a victory against Ireland on Sunday.
