Qualcomm has revealed that it will hold the next Snapdragon Summit 2024 event from October 21-23, 2024, in Maui, Hawaii. The company will likely unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 during this event. Based on Samsung’s track record, the Galaxy S25 series will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in at least a few markets, including the USA.

Qualcomm revealed earlier this year that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will feature its new custom Oryon CPU cores. These cores debuted with the Snapdragon X Elite, Qualcomm’s flagship ARM chip made for computers and laptops that run Windows. One such laptop is the Galaxy Book 4 Edge, which was unveiled a few weeks ago.

Samsung usually uses the flagship Snapdragon chipset in its Galaxy S series phones that are released in China and the US. The same phones use a comparable in-house Exynos chip in other countries. For the Galaxy S23 series, Samsung skipped the Exynos chip entirely and equipped all the phones globally with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy chip.

However, the South Korean firm returned to its usual strategy for the Galaxy S24 series, and the same is expected to happen with the Galaxy S25 series. Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra in January 2025.

The story continues after our video which compares the performance of Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

While Exynos chips have been on the back foot in terms of efficiency and performance compared to rival Snapdragon chips, the Exynos 2500 (tentative name) is rumored to be different. The upcoming Exynos chip is rumored to have been tailor-made for Samsung’s flagship phones.

It is rumored that Samsung created a separate team of engineers to optimize its performance and efficiency. The next flagship Exynos chip is expected to be fabricated using Samsung Foundry’s SF3 process node that uses GAA architecture for lower current leakage, leading to higher efficiency.
