1.5 Lakh Maruti Fronx Sold So Far; Hybrid Model Coming Soon

Maruti Suzuki Fronx has been generating volume for the Indo-Japanese automaker since its launch in April, 2023. It’s been nearly 14 months and the compact crossover has achieved 1.5 lakh units sales milestone. Looking at its financial year 2024 sales figures, the Fronx registered total sales 26,638 units, 36,836 units, 30,916 units and 40,432 units in Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4, respectively.

With such impressive sales figures, it became the second top-selling Nexa model after the Baleno hatchback. In April 2024, the Maruti Fronx outnumbered the Baleno and becomes the best-selling Nexa car with sales 14,286 units. The Indo-Japanese automaker managed to sell 1 lakh Fronx in 10 months and over 50,000 units in the past four months.

The automaker has already confirmed that the Maruti Fronx will receive its first mid-life update in 2025. With this update, the compact crossover will receive Maruti Suzuki’s in-house developed hybrid tech – codenamed HEV. It will be significantly cost effective than Toyota’s strong hybrid tech, used in the Maruti Grand Vitara and Invicto.

Reports suggest that the 2025 Maruti Fronx facelift will also come with the new 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine that recently made debut on the fourth-generation Swift. Details of Maruti Suzuki’s new hybrid system are scanty at this point of time. Though, it’s likely to include a 1.2L petrol engine, a battery pack with a capacity of 1.5kWh to 2kWh and an electric motor.

Maruti Suzuki’s new hybrid tech will be also introduced on the brand’s mass-market models including Baleno, Brezza and more. This year, the Indo-Japanese automaker will also foray into the electric vehicle (EV) segment with the production-ready eVX mid-size SUV. Once launched, the Maruti eVX will compete against the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV that’s due for early 2025. It will also go up against the MG ZS EV and the upcoming Tata Curvv EV.
