Tata Altroz Racer is the latest offering from the indigenous automaker in the country. It’s essentially the sportier variant of the hatchback, featuring a more powerful 120bhp, 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine. It comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. However, there are report that the Altroz Racer automatic variant will soon join the model lineup. It could be offered with a 7-speed DCA transmission that’s currently available with the Nexon petrol. Similar to its manual version that costs between Rs 9.49 lakh – Rs 10.99 lakh, the automatic variant will undercut the Hyundai i20 Line automatic. The latter comes with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The design of the Tata Altroz Racer is slightly different from the regular model. It has ‘Racer’ badging on the front fenders along with the contrasting black finish with white racing stripes on the bonnet and roof, slightly updated front grille and completely blacked-out top half. The Racer edition is being offered in three colour – Avenue White, Atomic Orange and Pure Grey.
On the feature front, the Tata Altroz Racer offers a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, a new 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a voice assisted sunroof, 360 degree camera and segment-first ventilated front seats. The red highlights around the gear lever on the centre consol and the AC vents with new leatherette upholstery with contrast stitching add to its sporty appearance. The Altroz Racer also comes the electronic stability control and six airbags as standard safety feature.
In other fresh updates, Tata’s Punch EV and Nexon EV were subjected to the Bharat NCAP and both models performed exceptionally well. The electric SUVs scored 5 star safety rating for both adult and child occupant protection. The automaker will soon expand its EV product portfolio with the Curvv EV, which is slated to go on sale during this year’s festive season.
