Khammam: Deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday said that the inquiry commission, led by Justice L. Narasimha Reddy, would take a call, if those who were served notice, refused to appear before it. The inquiry pertains to the power purchase agreements (PPA) entered into when the BRS government was in power.
Reacting to the comments of former energy minister G. Jagadish Reddy on the inquiry commission, Vikramarka said that BRS leaders should not forget that the commission was constituted by the Congress government only after Jagadish Reddy demanded a judicial probe into PPAs during the BRS rule.
During a discussion in the Legislative Assembly, Jagadish Reddy had repeatedly insisted on a judicial probe and in response to it the inquiry commission was constituted, Vikramarka said.
“If required, BRS leaders can verify the records of the Legislative Assembly. We don’t know the intention of the former energy minister. This is perhaps a revenge tactic by Jagadish Reddy and former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. But, the Congress government has never resorted to any vengeful acts against BRS leaders”, he said.
The attitude of the BRS chief indicates that he has no respect for the judiciary system. Great leaders like Indira Gandhi had also appeared before inquiry commissions, he pointed out.
He said that grama sabhas would be conducted on the status of electricity supply and the feedback of the people would be taken and duly addressed, he said while adding that there have been complaints that Transco staff did not respond properly when there were power outages. He said that people can call the toll free number 1912 on issues related to power supply.
Reminding that a committee was set up by the state government on the Dharani portal issue, he said that reforms would be brought in the revenue system after receiving the report.
Earlier, Vikramarka laid foundation stones for several development works in Bonakal mandal.
