Warangal police bust gang lifting vehicles to sell abroad

Warangal: Warangal police on Sunday nabbed four members of gang who stole costly vehicles like JCBs, tippers, poclains and high-end cars and sold them in foreign countries including Netherlands, South Africa and Cambodia.

Warangal central zone DCP Abdul Bari identified the gang members as Varikuppula Dasharath (38), resident of Thurka Manzil of Rangareddy district, Durgam Samdan (34) of Palakurthi mandal in Peddapalli district, Koshetty Rakesh (38) of Jagadgirigutta in Rangareddy district and Mohammad Jabeer. (34) of the old city in Hyderabad.

The DCP explained that Dasharath formed a gang along with the three others. They acted as financiers and targeted owners of expensive vehicles in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, who offered their vehicles for sale.

The gang approached these owners offering marginal money to purchase the vehicles. They promised to pay the remaining amount in EMIs. Having procured such vehicles, the gang immediately sold these vehicles to organisations in Mumbai, which exported them to other countries or sold them as scrap.

DCP Bari said Hyderabad police had earlier arrested the gang for 16 such cases. The gang members had even been jailed. However, after being released from the jail, the gang restarted cheating owners of costly vehicles.

On receiving information about their operations from credible sources, Matwada police including inspector Gopi, sub-inspector K. Kumar, head constable Ravinder and constables Ali, Vijaykanth, Harikanth, G. Rajendar, Shiva and Salman nabbed the gang when they tried to purchase a vehicle at Hanuman Junction in Warangal.

They seized from the gang members one Innova Crysta and four Swift Dezires.
