ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) — Round Rock police on Monday released the names of the two people who were killed in a shooting Saturday night at Old Settlers Park.
The victims were identified as 33-year-old Lyndsey Vicknair from Manor and 54-year-old Ara Duke from Pflugerville.
The shooting, which also injured 14 others, occurred during a Juneteenth celebration at the park around 10:50 p.m., following a fight between two groups who were at the event, Round Rock police said.
Neither Vicknair nor Duke were involved in the original altercation, RRPD said.
“Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the tragic loss of innocent lives and the injuries sustained by several others in Saturday’s senseless act of violence,” Round Rock PD Chief Allen Banks said in a statement. “Our deepest condolences go out to the families affected by this tragedy. We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community and will work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice. Together, we will stand strong and support one another during this difficult time for our community.”
Ara duke
IDEA Public Schools confirmed Duke was one of its employees. The district released a statement about her death to KXAN Monday morning.
“IDEA Public Schools is mourning the loss of an IDEA Rundberg team member who passed away in a tragic incident over the weekend. She was a valued member of our team, and we will greatly miss our friend and colleague. Counselors will be made available on campus to provide emotional support for students as needed. Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones as they navigate this difficult time,” the statement read.
Lyndsey Vicknair
The Austin Bar Association released a statement about Vicknair on Monday, saying she was part of the Chapman Firm.
“Austin Bar and AYLA member Lyndsey D. Vicknair of The Chapman Firm was killed at the Round Rock Juneteenth concert. Our prayers go out to her husband, Kevin, and their three children,” the association said.
Suspect search
Round Rock police are still searching for the shooting suspect. Police provided this description of the suspect on Sunday:
- Black man
- 5 feet, 7 inches tall
- Thin build
- 19-20 years old
- Hair in short dreads
- Last seen wearing a white hoodie

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is offering a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest.
