Minister Ponnam warns strong action against encroachers

Karimnagar: Transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday asked impoverished landowners to immediately lodge complaints if they found their property encroached upon, irrespective of which political party the land-grabbers may belong to. The Congress government was ready to take action against the encroachers and do justice to the victims, the minister added.

Prabhakar told the media that revenue officials had been directed to collect details of those who constructed buildings by encroaching on government land.

The minister along with DCC president and Manakondur MLA Dr K. Satyanarayana held a meeting to review developmental works under the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation limits with officials of various departments at the collectorate conference hall here.

He said that `98 crore was sanctioned to set up a command control centre and install 700 CCTV cameras. He wanted publicity to be given for the 22 Wi-Fi hotspots established under the Smart City Project.

The minister said about 72 percent of works regarding the first phase of the Manair Riverfront were completed. The second phase would comprise drainage system and soak pits.

The government had sanctioned `132 crore of which works worth `60 crore were completed.

In the morning, Prabhakar released the poster for the June 24 mega job mela under the department of youth services at Tirumala Gardens in Husnabad constituency.

He said around 5,000 job opportunities will be provided by private companies to rural unemployed youth.
