New-Gen Skoda Kodiaq In India – Launch Details

Skoda Kodiaq, the first full-size SUV from the Czech automaker, was first introduced in India in 2017. The model received its first mid-life update in January 2022, followed by the BS6 Phase 2 engine upgrade in May 2023. Now, it seems that the company is planning to bring in its second-generation model, which was revealed in late 2023.

One of its test mules was recently caught on camera without any camouflage, painted in White colour scheme. Based on the MQB-Evo platform, the next-gen Skoda Kodiaq carries a new unique design that inlines with the brand’s new ‘Modern Solid’ design philosophy. It appears more rugged than its current generation.

Upfront, the SUV features a pronounced hexagonal grille, Skoda’s new logo, new split headlamp setup, revised bumper, a heavily sculpted bonnet and LED light strip running across the front fascia. It has squared-off wheel arches with newly-designed 20-inch alloy wheels and pronounced based windowline near the C-pillar. The rear section looks refreshing with the tweaked bumper and new C-shaped wraparound LED taillamps. Read: Skoda Slavia Facelift Coming Soon

Compared to its predecessor, the new Kodiaq SUV measures 61mm linger and has a wheelbase of 2791mm. It ensures more cabin space for all occupants and extra boot space. Skoda said that the SUV’s new model provides 920mm of headroom for the occupants in the optional third row of seats.

Interior changes of the new Skoda Kodiaq are inspired by the new Skoda Superb including the redesigned control suite, a new free standing touchscreen and a 10-inch digital information display. Buyers will have four simple ‘design selection’ interior packages including Loft, Lounge and two variants of the sustainability-themed ‘Ecosuite’.

Globally, the Kodiaq is offered with multiple powertrain options including a 1.5L TSI mild hybrid (150PS/250Nm), 2L TSI (204PS/320Nm), 2L TDI (150PS,193PS/360Nm,400Nm) and 1.5L Plug-in hybrid (204PS/350Nm). Save for the 1.5L plug-in hybrid setup that gets a 6-speed DCT gearbox, all these powertrains are available with a 7-speed DCT gearbox. The SUV model lineup can be had either with AWD or FWD setups.
