Mahindra Thar Armada, the 5-door version of the Thar lifestyle off-road SUV, is set to debut on 15th August 2024. Prior to its official unveiling, we have gathered a handful of intriguing details of its design, features and powertrain. Compared to its 3-door version, the Mahindra Thar 5-door will carry slightly different styling and a bunch of extra features along with two diesel and a petrol engine.
With these upgrades, it will surely be priced significantly premium than the 3-door Thar that’s currently available within the price range of Rs 11.35 lakh – Rs 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom). The Thar Armada prices are expected to start from Rs 18 lakh for the entry-level variant and go up to Rs 23 lakh for the top-end variant.
The SUV’s top-end variant will come with a set of exclusive features including a panoramic sunroof and Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). The ADAS suite is likely to provide access to safety features such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, forward collision warning and assistance, traffic sign recognition, high beam assist, automatic emergency braking and driver drowsiness system. A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, all LED lighting system and 19-inch diamond cut alloy wheels will also be reserved for higher trims.
While the 3-door Thar misses out on the rear wiper and a remote fuel filling cap opening, the Mahindra Thar Armada will have them on-board. Features such as front and rear centre armrests, rear AC vents, leatherette seat upholstery, push button start, etc. For the safety provision, the Thar Armada’s top-end variant might offer a 360 degree camera along with the six airbags, rear wheel disc brakes, a dashcam and front parking sensors.
Buyers will get three engine options with the Mahindra Thar Armada including a 2.0L turbo petrol, 2.2L turbo diesel and the entry-level 1.5L diesel. While the turbocharged petrol and diesel motors will be available with the 4WD drivetrain system, the 1.5L diesel unit will come with the RWD setup.
