Next-Gen Bajaj Dominar 400 – All-New Platform & More Features

Bajaj Auto first introduced the Dominar 400, a mid-capacity power cruiser, back in 2016. However, the tourer failed to make a mark in the segment where it competes against the Royal Enfield Himalayan. Now, the Pune-based two-wheeler maker is planning to give a generation change to the Bajaj Dominar 400. Speaking to a media publication, Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director at Bajaj Auto, revealed that the company is planning to elevate the Dominar brand “to another level.” The bike’s new model will underpin an all-new platform and premium features, which will surely be offered at premium pricing.

Details of the new Bajaj Dominar are scanty at this point in time. However, we expect it to receive significant design changes and feature upgrades. The engine might remain unchanged. Currently, the tourer is available with a 373cc, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine borrowed from the KTM 390 series. It will come with the same 6-speed gearbox and the standard slipper clutch. The motor has a finger-follower camshaft, a 4-valve-per-cylinder setup, and Bajaj’s triple spark-plug technology. It delivers a claimed power of 35bhp at 8,000rpm and 35Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. The Dominar is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 8.23 seconds and offer a top speed of 148kph.

As of now, there is no official word on its launch timeline. However, we expect the new Bajaj Dominar to hit showrooms in 2025. The new Bajaj Dominar will face challenges from bikes like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 400, Triumph Speed 400, and Hero Maverick 400.

In other updates, Bajaj Auto is planning to further expand its 400cc bike product lineup in the coming years. The company plans to invest around Rs 800 crore (capital expenditures) in the fiscal year 2024-25. In the first quarter of 2024, the Pune-based automaker recorded an 18 percent growth in its consolidated net profit to Rs 2,011 crore, compared to Rs 1,705 crore in the corresponding quarter of 2023.
