Mohamed Muizzu: Black magic on Maldives president..? Woman minister, her ex-husband arrested

One of the favorite tourist destinations of Indians is Maldives. But since last year, she is always in the news after being involved in some kind of controversy. Elections were held in this island nation in the Indian Ocean last year. There was a campaign against India right before the elections. Mohammad Maijju came to power with the slogan of India Out. He wanted good relations with China and criticized India. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi visited Lakshadweep this year and said that this location is the best option for those who want to do snorkeling and adventure.

As a result, the number of Indians visiting the Maldives has decreased. The island, which is dependent on tourism, has suffered financially. The Maldives fell behind. The tourism minister of the country said that they want to work with the Indian government and hope to develop peace and friendly conditions and please be a part of their tourism again. With this, when it was thought that the dispute was settling down, another dispute arose. The local media is complaining that their own ministers have done black magic on the President of the country. Fatima Shamnaz Ali Salim, who is serving as the Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Energy, along with her ex-husband and President’s Office Minister Adam Rameez, were arrested by the police.

This matter was confirmed by the local media. After the incident came to light on June 23, the four accused were sent to seven-day custodial remand. Local media outlet Sun reported that Fatima was suspended as Minister of State in the Ministry of Environment. She was arrested by the police for allegedly casting black magic on President Maizza. Meanwhile, it is noteworthy that Fatima and Rameez worked with him as councilors when Maijju was performing his duties as the mayor of Male City. However, the police did not make any announcement about these arrests. Also, the President’s office has not released any statement. In the Muslim-majority Maldives, witchcraft is not a major criminal offense under the Penal Code. But according to Islamic law, this offense is punishable by six months imprisonment.
