Swapna Dutt, the producer of the film took to her social media account to make a clear statement about the films and the collection. She wrote, “It’s very amazing that people are calling or asking, Did we cross records? It’s hilarious because guys who create or created those records never make films for the records. We make for the audience. We make for the love of cinema. We did the same. (sic)”

Netizens and trade analysts have been comparing the film to other pan-India films that were released recently and also to Prabhas’ previous films. Swapna made it clear that they made Kalki 2898 AD for the love they have for cinema and for the fact that they believed in the story and what Nag Ashwin had in mind to deliver.
Kalki 2898 AD is a sci-fi epic tale based on Hindu scriptures. The movie is set in a dystopian future and starts 6000 years after the Kurukshetra War in the Mahabharata.
