Living with a 12 year old S-class: On parking, drop in FE & more

I feel ethanol blending has really hurt the fuel efficiency of this car.

BHPian androdev recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

It’s fair to say I have parked this car in more jugaad places than fancy ones. There is something earthly about this car which helps it blend in with the surroundings no matter where I park it. Few interesting photos from a recent trip:

Always a challenge to find a good parking spot in small town hotels with a lot of “BAR” patronage 🙂

Under the double protection of a Peepal tree and watchful deities!

Of course, always graceful when it’s in its element!

Even though a good SUV is more practical and can take us everywhere, I prefer to use a sedan as much as possible and hire some local speciality for the last mile.

My son was searching for the seat belt and the driver gave him the “main hoon na” look!

Even an uneventful ownership can be an expensive one. I feel ethanol blending has really hurt the FE of this car. Also compared to 2012, the highways have become a lot more congested. FE takes a big hit if the car needs to stop and accelerate.

As we all learn the hard way, an uneventful ownership is wishful thinking on our roads:

Seem like Ze Germans have thought of everything! A short polishing session and we are back in business!

Hyderabad ORR is one road that truly reminds me of driving abroad and this car feels very special on this road. In fact, I had the good fortune of driving this S Class during the early days when the ORR just opened and used to be very empty  Now they have a admirable speed limit of 120 KMPH and feels great to maintain such average speeds while staying within speed limits:
