Mahindra Thar 5-door is all set to debut on 15th August 2024, and ahead of its official unveiling, select Mahindra dealers have started accepting bookings for the vehicle. As per a fresh media report, the lifestyle off-road SUV has entered production at the company’s Chakan-based facility. The automaker aims to manufacture 5,000 – 6,000 units of the 5-door Thar on monthly basis. The SUV’s production-ready version is likely to be named ‘Mahindra Thar Armada’. With longer wheelbase and spacious cabin, the Thar 5-door will come as a more practical option for buyers. In fact, it will have more goodies on offer than its 3-door version. The Mahindra Thar Armada SUV’s top-end trim will come with some exclusive features such as Level 2 ADAS suite, a 360 degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, all LED lighting system and 19-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
The SUV will also have a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Unlike its 3-door version, the Mahindra Thar 5-door will have a remote fuel filing cap opening and a rear wiper. The list of features will also include leatherette seat upholstery, front and rear centre armrests, a dashcam, push button start, six airbags, front parking sensors and rear wheel disc brake.
The engines on offer will be an entry-level 1.5L diesel with RWD setup, a 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer. Similar to the Scorpio N, the Mahindra Thar Armada will have a five-link with frequency-dependent dampers, adding more to its off-road capabilities. The upcoming lifestyle off-road SUV will be designed on the ladder frame chassis.
At present, the 3-door Thar is available within the price range of Rs 11.35 lakh – Rs 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Prices of the Mahindra Thar 5-door or Thar Armada are likely to start from Rs 16 lakh for the base variant and go up to Rs 20 lakh-23 lakh for the fully-loaded top trim.
