New Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2 update has been released

The Galaxy SmartTag 2, Samsung’s latest object location tracker, has probably received its first-ever firmware update. This object tracker was launched nine months ago and brought significant improvements to design and battery life.

New Galaxy SmartTag 2 update is now available

Samsung has released a new firmware update for the Galaxy SmartTag 2. The update brings the firmware version 0.20.04 but doesn’t mention what has improved. This update started rolling out earlier this week, but not everyone might get it simultaneously.

The company might have fixed some bugs or improved the location tracking accuracy or connection reliability because that’s what matters when it comes to object trackers. If you have the Galaxy SmartTag 2, you can open the SmartThings app and click your Galaxy SmartTag 2 from the list of your devices. If you have received the notification about the update on your Galaxy phone, tap it to head over to the update screen.

What makes Galaxy SmartTag 2 useful?

The Galaxy SmartTag 2 has a slimmer design and form factor, which makes it easier to attach to any object without making it noticeably bulkier. It also features a stronger key ring. Thanks to its more power-efficient chipset and a bigger battery, it can last up to 500 days on a single charge.

Apart from locating lost or stolen objects, the Galaxy SmarTag can do other things. You can configure its button to perform a SmartThings Routine (automation). Two routines are possible: one when you press the button once and the other when you press and hold the button. You can also change the object tracker’s ringtone and check its battery percentage from the SmartThings app.
