Lyca Productions has emerged as one of the biggest banners in Tamil in recent times. But for the past few years, they haven’t been able to deliver a successful movie.
Most of their recent projects turned out to be colossal flops. Chandramukhi 2, Lal Salaam, Ram Setu, Naai Sekar Returns, Raangi, and others. However, Ponniyin Selvan 1 & 2 gave them some respite.

Unlike the technically extravagant Kalki 2898 AD, Indian 2 relies heavily on drama and emotions. Kamal Haasan’s role as Senapathy, a character with tremendous recall value, is the film’s biggest USP.
There’s a two-week gap between the releases of Kalki and Indian 2, which could work in Indian 2’s favor. By the time Indian 2 releases, Kalki might have slowed down at the box office, making room for the new release.

After the success of Vikram and Kalki, Kamal Haasan has made a remarkable comeback, and there’s a buzz around what he and Shankar will bring to the screen this time. Kamal’s performance as Supreme Yaskin in Kalki received praise, increasing anticipation for his role in Indian 2.
There is also optimism that Indian 2 will perform well in the Hindi market. The first Indian, released in 1996, was a huge hit in the North with over 1.5 crore footfalls, making it one of the biggest hits among dubbed films in Hindi.
With these factors in play, Indian 2 has the potential to be a savior for Lyca Productions.
