Mahindra Thar 5-Door Features & Price Expectations

The Mahindra Thar 5-door is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated new car launches of this year. The carmaker has confirmed that the lifestyle SUV will make its first official appearance on 15th August 2024. Previous spy images and videos reveal that the 5-door Thar will have more features on board than its 3-door sibling. Furthermore, its styling will also be slightly different. The upcoming SUV will possess some serious off-road capabilities as it will share its suspension setup and a few components with the Scorpio N.

We have seen its interior via multiple spy images that confirmed that the upcoming Thar 5-door SUV will have a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The unit is likely to be borrowed from the XUV700. There will also be a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster along with wireless phone charging, leatherette seat upholstery, rear AC vents, dual-zone climate control, a dashcam, front parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and six airbags.

The major highlights of its interior will be the ADAS suite and a panoramic sunroof. The ADAS tech, which will be borrowed from the Mahindra XUV700, will offer features such as automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, driver drowsiness system, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, and high beam assist. When it comes to the powertrain, the Mahindra Thar 5-door SUV is expected to come with the 2.0L turbo petrol, 2.2L turbo diesel, and the entry-level 1.5L diesel engine options. The turbocharged petrol and diesel units will get the 4WD setup, while the 1.5L diesel motor will be available with the RWD drivetrain.

With improved styling, more features, and better off-road capabilities, the 5-door Thar will surely be priced significantly higher than its 3-door version, which costs between Rs 11.35 lakh – Rs 17.60 lakh (all, ex-showroom). The SUV’s base variant is expected to come with a price tag of around Rs 18 lakh, and the top-end trim might be offered at Rs 23 lakh.
