Renault and Nissan announced their expansion plan earlier this year, which includes six new locally produced products: four all-new models shared between sister brands and A-segment EVs. The new-generation Renault Duster (5-seater) is set to debut in 2025, followed by its 7-seater version in the next couple of years. Both SUVs will also have their Nissan counterparts. The upcoming 7-seater Renault and Nissan SUVs will face challenges from cars like the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and MG Hector Plus. Maruti Suzuki’s forthcoming three-row SUV and its Toyota version will also compete against the Duster 7-seater.

The 7-seater Renault and Nissan SUVs, which will essentially be the longer Duster, will be designed on the CMF-B platform. This architecture is likely to be heavily localized to achieve competitive pricing. Similar to the 5-seater Duster, its three-row version will share some design elements with the Dacia Bigster concept, first showcased in 2021.

Upfront, the SUV might feature a narrow grille, thin LED headlamps, and an angular bumper along with a boxy bonnet. Styling bits such as bold body cladding, squarish wheel arches, a twin pod-style spoiler, door pillars integrated rear door handles, and Bigster-like Y-shaped taillamps with a trunk lid will further enhance its SUV-ish looks. Interior details of the upcoming 7-seater Renault and Nissan SUVs are not available at this point.

Reports suggest that the all-new Renault Duster and its Nissan counterpart might come with the 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L turbo GDi petrol engines. Both FWD (on the lower trim) and AWD (on the higher trims only) drivetrain systems will be on offer.

As mentioned above, Renault and Nissan will also introduce an A-segment EV, likely to be the Renault Kwid EV. With the new small EV, the carmakers aim to target the mass market and take on the Tata Tiago EV.
