The United Kingdom is going to see a change in power after 14 long years of Conservative rule. The Labour Party has reached the majority mark in the assembly and is set to form the government. Sitting Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has accepted the election result and he has a simple message. Addressing the election results, he said “I’m sorry.”
The Labour Party’s Keir Starmer is going to be the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Rishi Sunak is going to make way for him at the 10 Downing Street and he left a message reading, “… Today, power will change hands in a peaceful and orderly manner with goodwill on all sides.”

The exit polls had already predicted a crushing defeat for Sunak’s conservative party. His tenure as a prime minister was short but it’ll not be forgotten for a number of reasons. The UK is embracing change and it is time for the new leaders to stand up to the expectations of voters.
Rishi Sunak had a very good relationship with India and diplomatic ties improved under his reign. It will be very interesting to see how the new government will deal with international relations and if it’ll be a step back from the approach that the conservatives had.

Another key issue that the citizens of the UK have their eyes on is the immigrant crisis. The controversial Rwanda action plan was heavily criticized as well as supported. The new government’s take on it will be crucial not just for UK but all of Europe.
