Royal Enfield Electric Bike Design Patent Reveals Details

Royal Enfield aims to foray into the electric two-wheeler segment in the coming years. The brand’s maiden EV offering has finally been revealed via a patent image, showcasing its classic bobber style featuring a retro-style round headlight, a saddle seat, and a pronounced rear fender. A saree guard can also be noticed, hinting that there will be an option for a pillion seat. The bike has a distinctively designed fuel tank, braced swingarm, and a girder fork.

The patent image further revealed that the upcoming Royal Enfield electric bike will have a battery pack positioned between the chassis. However, there is no word on its powertrain, range, and performance at this point in time. Codenamed Electrik01, the EV will be built on the all-new ‘L’ platform. The same architecture will also be used for RE’s future electric bikes, which will be co-developed by RE and Stark Future SL – the Spanish EV two-wheeler maker. The RE electric bike is expected to make its global debut towards the end of 2025, with its India launch likely to happen in 2026.

The Chennai-based bikemaker plans to invest nearly Rs 1,000 crore in the development of its future products and establishing sales infrastructure for electric motorcycles. It aims to achieve a production capacity of 1.5 lakh EVs annually. The upcoming Royal Enfield electric bike will be manufactured at the company’s new Cheyyar, Chennai-based facility. With its electric offerings, RE will target premium motorcycle buyers.

In other fresh updates, Royal Enfield is all set to launch the Guerrilla 450 on 17th July 2024. The launch event is scheduled to take place in Barcelona, Spain. Multiple spy images of the upcoming RE bike reveal that the model will feature a Tripper TFT dash, similar to what is seen in the Hunter, and come in a dual-tone Red and Gold paint scheme (which could be reserved for a higher variant).
