Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and a Jimny went on a 10-day Ladakh trip

We had a great 10 day trip to all of Ladakh. We had to encounter really bad roads, knee deep river crossings, many high passes which ranged from 16000 feet to 18000 feet.

BHPian Styler recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Hi Guys,

I just did a trip to Ladakh in the beginning of July 2024.

The route was Delhi – Manali – Spice – Leh – Nubra Valley – Siachin Base Camp – Pangong – Tso Moriri – Spice – Manali – Delhi.

I was driving the Grand Father – Grand Vitara 2.4L with my wife and 2 kids. Fellow team-bhpian @prateekswaroop was driving the Grand Child – Jimny Alpha Manual with his wife.

We had a great 10 day trip to all of Ladakh. We had to encounter really bad roads, knee deep river crossings, many high passes which ranged from 16000 feet to 18000 feet including the Khardungla, Changla, BaraLachala, Nakeela, TanglangLa etc.

I did even put the Grand Vitara into 4LowLock at some occasions.

The old horse did well through the trip except for a Clutch issue which happens at high altitude and high engine temperature. It is a known issue only in the manual GV with an easy fix. I discussed the problem with the GM of Motorcraft, a rally driver and owner of GV 2.4 himself. He was aware of the issue and recommended an easy fix which we could get done in Leh.

I am sharing some pictures here, these are not in any order. Just random pictures of the Grandfather in the High Mountains of Ladakh.
