The car still feels tight and drives like a dream. I plan to keep this for 10 years minimum.

One more year has gone by in a jiffy and the Superb (1.8 TSi Manual) does not fail to bring a wide grin on my face each time I am at the wheel. To my surprise, the experience owning a Skoda has been peaceful and the service experience has been excellent. All thanks to Mody Skoda, Kurla. Based on the horror stories of service experience read on the forum earlier, I was expecting surprises, but they have never failed to impress me and are doing a phenomenal job in keeping my steed in top shape.
October 2023 – I noticed both front DRLs developed a tinge of yellow on the edges only. Since the car was under warranty, I tried my luck pushing aggressively for a replacement of the DRLs free of cost expecting them to give me excuses of how it cannot be claimed under warranty as the damage could be seen only at the edges. Guess what? They approved the replacement of both front DRLs costing INR 1.5 Lacs absolutely free of cost. No questions asked! I could not express my joy in words when I received that call from service advisor, Mr. Sunil Swain informing me of the cost approval under warranty and that the car will be delivered soon.
Before:
In the last one year, the Superb has been driven mainly on Weekends. I also did couple of road trips to Ahmedabad. One, to watch the ICC 50-over World Cup Final between India and Australia at Motera. On the match, the less said the better. Second, solo drive again to Motera to watch MS Dhoni aka Thala live in action (CSK vs GT) this IPL 2024 and he did not disappoint with 3 back to back sixes. This man defies age. On the drive experience, NH 48 was in shambles owing to the repair work, especially the stretch after Vapi towards Vadodara. All in all, the Superb did not disappoint at all and took all uneven surfaces with aplomb. Each time I take the Superb on the highway, it just gives me this feeling that this limousine was built for highways. The comfort-oriented suspension coupled with the silent cabin cutting off outside noise completely just makes for a great pleasurable drive. On a different note, I am always torn between taking the X1 or the Superb on road trips. The decision making is not as easy as it seems especially as I work from home during the week and feel very guilty when I don’t do justice to both cars on weekends by clocking more kilometers on the odometer. I plan to take the Superb out more frequently in the 2nd half of 2024. Fingers crossed.
NE 1:
The Superb was due for its 2nd service since my ownership (75k service) with odometer at 47,868 km. The service experience was excellent as shared above. The only small glitch I faced was the fuel lid actuator not working and the same was replaced under warranty Free of Cost (Cost – INR 3500/-)
Work carried out:
- Engine oil change
- Oil Filter change
- Air Filter change
- Regular Check up
Total cost for service – INR 17, 044/- only

I’d take this cost of service any day for a Skoda Superb in its 5th year. The car still feels tight and drives like a dream. I plan to keep this for 10 years minimum. I never thought I’d make this Toyota-like statement for a Skoda. But then never say never
I have been so engrossed in driving all year that I haven’t clicked pictures. But sharing a couple:
