Rode the ZX4RR for a few kms on the highway, and some of my observations. It’s a fun bike, you will be grinning inside the helmet the whole time you ride it. It was a friend’s new bike with just 200 km on Odo so I didn’t push it.
- The riding stance is committed, but definitely not as aggressive as ZX6R. I have never ridden/owned sports bikes, but still, I find it to be ok. I found the footpeg to be very high but not as rare as the ZX6R.
- Suspension is top notch, I was expecting it to be jarring but it’s properly comfy. Most surprising for me. Again I rode it on the highway, not really on bad city roads.
- Coming from an inline 2 bike, the engine note is fantastic, even at 60kmph it sounds like you are going 120kmph. Stock exhaust is nice sounding but not obnoxiously loud.
- The engine has a good low end, it was doing 60kmph in 6th gear without any complaints. It is also a very smooth engine.
- All the components, fit and finish, etc look very good.
- The bike is small but doesn’t look like a small 400cc bike for sure. ZX4RR’s green color and loud graphics scheme also help, I have seen black ZX4R and it doesn’t look that impressive.
- The brakes are very sharp and offer a good bite. Again I was not pushing the bike.
- The headlights are decent.
- There is a big gap in the fairing just behind the front tyre and the mudguard is extremely small. All the muck and slush are going to end up on the exhaust pipe and radiator, which is completely exposed to the elements. A radiator guard is a must
- Quickshift is clunky to use, maybe will get better with use.
- This bike can not be a logical purchase IMO, it’s a very niche segment, if you want to have all the fun of an inline 4 but don’t want to buy something which can kill you, this is the right bike.
