The Magarpatta IT park has been a favourite location for over 15 years now.
BHPian Knightrider recently shared this with other enthusiasts.
If you observe keenly, many car and bike advertisements have been shot at Magarpatta IT park in Pune, for more than 15 years. It is still one of the favourite locations of ad agencies to shoot for new car and bike ads.
Pune folks will be able to identify the unique buildings in the background and the big circular island along with the landscaping.
Here are a few of the ads that I could find over the years. Feel free to add if you come across this location in the automotive advertisements.
And many many more!
Here’s what BHPian parambyte had to say on the matter:
Interesting you noticed. I shot this around 13 years ago.
I shoot ads as a Cinematographer and also produce them. We shoot a lot at Magarpatta. Because here in India, there are very few locations worth shooting in.
Often scripts show a nice modern steel and glass city with clean roads as a backdrop. What are your options? When budgets permit we go to DLF Cyber City Gurgaon. But mostly budgets are never enough. So it’s Magarpatta or Hahnemann Circle in Mumbai. Hahnemann has heritage buildings. Magarpatta has modern buildings.
One Problem with Magarpatta is the many many speed breakers. When you shoot a bike commercial, by the time you are about to get your shot, the bike hits a speed breaker, breaking the momentum of speed, smooth shot etc. We struggle to manage shots between speed breakers.
Mumbai has Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) as well, especially one particular road there. However shooting permissions in BKC are generally denied because the US Consulate, Ambani School etc are all being there.
I wish more of our cities had nicer roads and backdrops for shoots.
We once shot in Chandigarh as well. Beautiful city. We realised the problem was, it is so green, you only see trees in the backdrop and not the lovely bungalows
When there are even bigger budgets we shoot abroad. But that’s not that often, especially with the time taken (even if budgets are there) for shipping the bikes via carnet etc.
Once you start shooting, you look at everything with that lens. Then you realise so few locations are shootable. Too many potholes here, a nice stretch but a dilapidated building behind, beautiful scenery but plenty of ugly cables and poles, too many speed breakers, too much uncontrollable traffic, a nice lane but too short, difficult to get permissions and so on.
Here’s what BHPian RaghuVis had to say on the matter:
In this AD, one portion of the IT park is the EON IT park in Kharadi.
I was in that area when this shooting happened. Initially, all were very eager to see the shooting thinking that it was some movie star. Once they realized it was an AD and didn’t have any famous people, all went away. I therefore got to enjoy some time of the shoot and ogle at the car.
PS: I have to commend the people who take part in shoots. It is such a boring thing to see.
