Earlier this year, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. announced its investment plan of Rs 20,000 crore over ten years for manufacturing EVs (electric vehicles), developing charging infrastructure, and skill development. The carmaker is set to invest Rs 6,180 crore in Tamil Nadu for establishing a hydrogen resource center. The company has confirmed that it will launch four EVs, including the Creta EV, coming in the last quarter of this fiscal year. It will also focus on securing local production capabilities to achieve competitive pricing for its upcoming electric models.

The South Korean automaker will also target the entry-level, mass-market EV segment with the Hyundai Inster EV. It will be a direct rival to the Tata Punch EV and is slated to arrive in the second half of 2026. Codenamed HE1, the Inster is globally offered with the 97bhp Standard 42kWh battery and 115bhp Long-Range 49kWh battery options. Hyundai has also planned a new sub-4 metre SUV based on the globally sold Hyundai Bayon, which is reported to go on sale in India in FY2027. Here, it will be positioned against the Tata Nexon, Toyota Taisor, and Maruti Suzuki Fronx.

Besides strengthening its EV market, Hyundai Motor India will update its existing models, including the Grand i10 Nios hatchback, Venue subcompact SUV, Alcazar three-row SUV, and Tucson SUV. The Hyundai Alcazar facelift will hit showrooms in September 2024, followed by the updated Tucson in the next couple of months. Both SUVs are expected to receive minimal changes inside and out, while retaining the existing powertrains.

Production of the new-generation Hyundai Venue will begin in October 2025, and its market launch is likely to happen in early 2025. It will be manufactured at Hyundai’s new Talegaon facility in Maharashtra. The South Korean automaker might also expand its EV product lineup with the premium Ioniq 6 electric sedan sometime next year. The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is set for a generational change in late 2027. Reports suggest that Hyundai might also introduce the next-gen Aura and Exter after the launch of the all-new Grand i10 Nios.
