Can Trivikram Succeed Where Nag Ashwin Faltered?

Director Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD faltered big time, particularly in its writing. The film struggled to evoke the necessary emotions and seriousness in key sequences. Even the reveal in the climax relied more on Prabhas’ larger-than-life presence than on Ashwin’s storytelling.

Despite holding the potent subject of the Mahabharata, Ashwin delivered an average film. Its success was primarily due to its star-studded cast, high technical standards, and the unique blend of three worlds.

Industry speculations now suggest that Allu Arjun’s next project might be directed by Trivikram, with shooting set to begin in May 2025 and a release planned for January 2027. This film is expected to follow the Kalki model, featuring a massive budget and a huge span.

Despite faltering a few times in recent years, it cannot be denied that Trivikram is an excellent writer. He possesses a deep understanding and knowledge of Indian scriptures, mythology, tradition, and culture.

If he can craft a script that seamlessly integrates these elements with cinematic storytelling and historical Indian heroes, the film could achieve unprecedented success.

One of the criticisms of Kalki 2898 AD was its weak dialogues. Trivikram is also renowned for his exceptional dialogue writing. If he can come up with dialogues as impactful as those in films like Daana Veera Soora Karna and make them resonate with contemporary audiences, the film’s potential is limitless.
