The much-awaited Mahindra Thar 5-door off-road SUV has been leaked on the web ahead of its official debut on 15th August 2024. The leaked images show its front fascia featuring a differently designed grille with six slots (instead of the seven slots offered on the 3-door Thar) and new LED projector headlamps with C-shaped DRLs. One can also notice the wing mirror integrated camera, confirming the presence of a 360-degree camera. The rear door handles are placed on the door frame. A few more cosmetic upgrades will differentiate the 5-door Thar from its 3-door sibling. Read: New-Gen Mahindra Bolero, Bolero EV Launch Timeline
We already have a handful of information on its interior and features, thanks to multiple spy images and videos. The upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door SUV will have a dual screen setup with 10.25-inch displays (one for the infotainment and another for the instrument functionalities). The Level 2 ADAS tech, a panoramic sunroof, and a dashcam will be the major highlights of the SUV, which will be exclusively offered on the higher trims. There will also be wireless phone charging, rear AC vents, leatherette seat upholstery, dual-zone climate control, front parking sensors, and six airbags on offer.
As per media reports, the new 5-door Thar will come with three engine options – a 1.5L diesel (for entry-level variants only), a 2.2L diesel, and a 2.0L petrol. The turbo petrol and diesel variants can be had with the 4WD system, while the entry-level 1.5L diesel engine will get the RWD setup similar to its 3-door sibling. Buyers will have two gearbox options – manual and automatic.
Unofficial bookings for the 5-door Mahindra Thar SUV have already commenced at select Mahindra dealerships. Reports suggest that the production-ready version will be named ‘Mahindra Thar Armada’ and is estimated to cost between Rs 18 lakh – Rs 23 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the new lifestyle off-road SUV from Mahindra will go up against the 5-door Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
