Compact SUV sales have hit an all-time high in the past few years. Buyers shifting from entry-level hatchbacks to the higher segment are opting for compact SUVs. These vehicles are favored for their practicality, high ground clearance, efficiency, and, of course, greater affordability. The sub-4 metre SUV segment, already crowded with several models, will soon witness four product launches from Hyundai and Kia.
Hyundai Motor India will introduce the new-generation Venue by the end of 2025. Codenamed QU2i, the subcompact SUV will enter production in October 2025. Interestingly, it will be the first Hyundai to be manufactured at the carmaker’s new Talegaon facility, which was acquired from GM (General Motors) in 2023. The all-new Venue will derive some of its design inspiration from the Creta and the upcoming Alcazar facelift. The interior is expected to come with a bunch of new features, while the engine setup will remain unchanged.

In 2026, the South Korean automaker will bring in two sub-4 metre SUVs, including an EV. The Hyundai Bayon-based crossover will be positioned against the Maruti Fronx, Tata Nexon, and Toyota Taisor. Globally, it’s available with a 1.0L turbo petrol engine in two states of tune. In India, it could be offered with the i20 hatchback’s engine setup.
The Hyundai Inster EV is reported to arrive by late 2026 to challenge the dominance of the Tata Punch EV. Hyundai’s Sriperumbudur plant will serve as the production hub for the Inster EV in India. Here, it could be offered with two battery pack options – 42 kWh and 49 kWh – offering a range of 300 km and 355 km, respectively.
Kia India is planning to foray into the micro SUV segment with an all-new model likely to be named ‘Clavis’ or ‘Syros’. Spy images reveal that the new Kia Syros will have a boxy and upright stance with features such as front parking sensors, ADAS tech, a 360-degree camera, six airbags, rear disc brakes, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
