NEW DELHI: Officially, there are 10 ways to get out in cricket but the game is full of instances when batsmen have been dismissed in a freakish manner.
One of the bizarre manners is a batsman getting caught out off a rebound and it gets funny when the rebound if off your own teammate.
It was on January 13, 2006 during an ODI at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne against Sri Lanka when Australia‘s Andrew Symonds smashed a ball from Jehan Mubarak straight at the non-striker’s end but the ball ricocheted off the runner Michael Clarke‘s shoe and popped up for Tillakaratne Dilshan at mid-on to complete a simple catch.

And now during the Second XI Twenty20 Final between Somerset and Yorkshire in Wormsley on Tuesday, another bizarre caught and bowled dismissal occurred.
The victim here was Somerset’s Ned Leonard and the beneficiary was Yorkshire pacer Ben Cliff.
The incident took place in Somerset’s innings during the 19th over.
On the second ball of the over, Ben Cliff delivered a full-length ball to Ned Leonard, who went for a straight drive but struck the batter at the non-striker’s end and the ball deflected into the bowler’s hands, resulting in Leonard’s dismissal for a two-ball duck.

Ben Cliff finished with match figures of 3/30 but Somerset beat Yorkshire by 66 runs to win the final.
