New Hyundai 7/8-Seater SUV To Debut In Late 2024

The Hyundai Ioniq Concept Seven, first unveiled at the LA Motor Show in 2021, is now ready to enter production towards the end of this year. It’s a three-row electric SUV that will be first launched in the US market, followed by other global markets. While there is no official word on its India launch, a few media reports claim that the new Hyundai 7-seater SUV could make its way here in 2026.

The design and styling of the Seven concept are radically different from conventional SUVs, featuring aerodynamic elements and an extended wheelbase (3200mm). Its production-ready version is likely to retain most of the features from the concept, though it might undergo a few changes to tone down its futuristic looks. The electric SUV underpins Hyundai’s EV-specific E-GMP platform with a flat floor, short bonnet, and overhangs.

The interior of the Hyundai Ioniq Concept Seven appears quite futuristic with a “fluid” format seating layout, including two movable, swivelling armchairs with footrests and a curved corner sofa-style seating arrangement at the back of the cabin. Instead of the steering wheel, the concept has a retractable joystick. In place of the dashboard, it has a digital control panel with a huge OLED screen integrated into the ceiling, which serves as a virtual sunroof with customizable displays.

Interestingly, the Concept Seven has front seats that can be turned rearwards, along with ambient lighting, an inbuilt fridge, and dedicated shoe care compartments. Hyundai has used recycled materials with a bio-paint exterior finish.

The new Hyundai 7-seater SUV will share its powertrain with the Kia EV6. It will have 800V charging functionality for fast charging. The electric SUV is claimed to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 20 minutes. Range details are still under wraps, though Hyundai aims to achieve an electric range of over 300 miles.
