Vicky Kaushal and Triptii Dimri’s film Bad Newz had an impressive start, earning Rs 8.25 crore on its opening day, making it one of the strongest openings for a Bollywood film recently. This marks Vicky Kaushal’s biggest opener, surpassing his previous best, URI.
The film’s earnings continued to grow on the second day, crossing double digits. Industry insiders are optimistic about its weekend performance, predicting that Bad Newz could reach around Rs 30 crore or more by the end of the weekend.

The fun and music have contributed to the film’s success. Vicky Kaushal is currently doing well with hits like Zara Hatke Zara Bachke and Sam Bahadur. However, the film’s true trajectory will be clearer by Monday.
Despite its strong box office performance, the film has received mixed reviews, with some people calling it one of the worst Bollywood movies in recent times.

One social media user said, “The movie fails to create an emotional connection and instead presents absurd scenes with silly caricatures. It’s the cringefest of the year.”
Another reviewer wrote, “BadNewz is the dumbest film Bollywood has ever made. It’s painfully stupid.”

A third reviewer criticized the film’s plot, saying, “The story is about a girl who sleeps with two boys and gets pregnant without knowing who the father is. It’s a vulgar sex comedy, yet these filmmakers criticize Telugu films of Ravi Teja and Balakrishna for being inappropriate.”
Triptii Dimri has also faced backlash for starring in films where her character engages in sexual relationships with multiple partners, which some view as promoting adultery.
However, some people defended Bad Newz, arguing, “Consensual sex between two adults isn’t immoral. It’s still better than the offensive rape comedy jokes in movies like Sarileru Neekevvaru.”
