All high schools in Telangana, except in Hyderabad and Secunderabad, will function from 9 a.m. to 4.15 p.m. “with immediate effect”, as per new directions by the government conveyed to school heads and district educational officers on Friday. The old timings were 9.30 a.m. to 4.45 p.m.
This change effectively makes timings of high schools and primary and upper primary schools the same.
“Government hereby decides to change the High School timings to function from 9 a.m. to 4.15 p.m. instead of 9.30 a.m. to 4.45 p.m. to equate them with primary and upper primary school timings and retain the school timings of 8.45 a.m. to 4 p.m. in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad,” the order stated.
The order noted that the school timings in the twin cities remain unchanged in view of the road traffic congestion.
